South Korea and US agree on mobile standard

South Korea and the US avoided a possible trade row by agreeing on a mobile Internet standard for new handsets. Representatives from the two countries have agreed after two days of talks that South Korean handset makers would adopt a home grown standard for mobile Internet software, called WIPI, to download music, games and data, the Information and Communication Ministry said.

So Qualcomm can't ship export BREW to South Korea anymore?

Qualcomm, which has been exporting BREW technology to South Korea, said the disclosure would give it the chance to modify its technology to meet the local standard.

So they just have work ahead of them. Still, not a good move for BREW -- but certainly WIPI won't take over the world.
