Exploring the J2ME Mobile Media APIs

The Mobile Media APIs provide a rich and extensible framework for playing and capturing a wide variety of media on mobile devices. Find out how to add sizzle to your application using these features.

This covers JSR-135, the J2ME Mobile Media API, or MMAPI as it's often referred to on handset spec sheets.

Although only a handful of handsets currently support MMAPI, using it will be important for creating rich multimedia applications on capable handsets.

The MMAPI makes short work of playing media. Only 2-3 lines of code are needed to play anything -- twice that to add control -- even if the source data is over the network.
