First four player mutiplayer mobile game

MFORMA Group, Inc., a leading global provider of wireless entertainment, has released Poker Multiplayer, the first mobile J2ME game where four players can play simultaneously at the same time, in the same game. Available only to Sprint PCS Vision customers, the game features real-time, phone-to-phone play with super-fast, socket-based communication, giving users a wireless poker playing experience like no other.

What I'm sure they mean is it's the first four player multiplayer mobile game that uses handset to handset communication and does not use a server. Sega has Pocket Kingdom under development and it will allow for thousands to play as it's a true MMORPG for the N-Gage.

The use of direct socket connections for this game is good news for other developers who have been waiting to create real-time multiplayer games on a mobile handset, rather than turn-based, time-independant games. It won't be long now before multiplayer FPS games come to the cell phone
