New MSM7000 series chipsets do it all

Posted at May 13, 2004 03:59 PM in BREW .

Besides being able to support any radio technology a handset OEM might need, this chips will all for full VGA video and 6.0 Megapixel cameras. But that's not all. They'll also support 802.11, Bluetooth, USB, and TV video. In addition, they'll run on VGA screens pushing 4 million triangles per second on 3D hardware, and run at up to 1GHz.

Once again, though, us software developers will have a while to wait. QUALCOMM doesn't expect to ship high-end samples to OEMs until sometime in 2006. The earliest samples, without every RF protocol supported, will be seen in early 2005.

Naturally, BREW and J2ME are supported. However, by 2006 they may need to support something even newer. ;)
