SVG Tiny for J2ME

Posted at June 17, 2004 08:05 AM in J2ME .

Another organization has recently been conducting work showing more signs of Mobile SVG's widening appeal. The Java Community Process (JCP) have created a Java Specifications Request (JSR) expert group lead by Nokia and Sun working on creating a standard SVG Tiny Java API for J2ME. The JSR-226 expert group has been advancing steadily during the last 12 months and the current draft is in Public Review so it's time for you to go check it out and send your feedback. We can expect from this work at JCP that SVG Tiny will soon be a core component of the J2ME platform, thus promoting further usage of Mobile SVG. I should also note the recent MPEG Call for Proposals on Lightweight Application Scene Representation, commanding work on a binary format to represent scenes for use in a mobile environment, compatible with SVG Tiny. This is another thing to keep track of in the next few months.
