Is it IPO time for JAMDAT?

Jamdat Mobile is ready to go public. The wireless game applications developer has filed a registration statement with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, marking the first step to an initial public offering.

The company has yet to set the number of shares to be sold or the offering price. Lehman Brothers and Merrill Lynch & Co. will act as joint book-running managers for the offering, Jamdat says. In October 2002, the company raised $8 million in financing and said at the time it expected that third round of financing to be the final round of private equity financing. Apax Partners, Intel, Qualcomm and Sun Microsystems all participated in that round of funding.

With all of the news lately about small wireless companies being acquired, it's a fresh change to see on that will have a public offering. It's also a very good sign of the times.
