Avantgo available for Symbian UIQ Platform

Posted at July 6, 2004 11:01 PM in Symbian .

Avantgo is available for Symbian UIQ platforms via Handango
now. It's been available for Series 60 devices since November of last year. Both versions are free downloads.

I'm surprised it hasn't sprung up on more phones lately given the content is all geared towards fairly low end devices. It was originally used on greyscale Palm's with low resolution 160x160 screens. With many handsets now doing 176x220 in 18-bit color and some running a full QVGA screen, the content is more than ready for use on these new phones.

Use AvantGo to synchronize specially designed mobile Web sites to your phone using a desktop or wireless Internet connection. Get news, sports, stocks, movie listings from the world's top brands. Even designate your own favorite Web sites (workout schedules, family Web sites) to synchronize to your handheld. Once downloaded, AvantGo content is viewable even when you are not connected. The software already comes standard on most Pocket PC and Palm OS devices.
