Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications today announced strategic investments in Symbian Software Ltd., totalling approximately £ 57.4 million. In addition to exercising its and Ericsson's pre-emption rights of Psion's holding in Symbian, Sony Ericsson is participating in Symbian's rights issue, reiterating its continued strong support for Symbian. Upon the completion of the pre-emption process and the rights issue, Sony Ericsson increases its shareholding in Symbian from 1.5% to 13.1%.
