BitDefender, based in Romania, stated that it has discovered a "proof of concept" virus for Microsoft's operating system for smart phones and other handhelds. The malicious code's author, who uses the pseudonym Ratter, is part of the 29A VX group that created a virus for the Symbian OS. Hot on the heels of the first Symbian virus, and from the same group, we get the first Windows CE virus news, which is sure to outspread the virus itself considering the virus is another proof of concept. This virus, which doesn't appear to have a name yet, pops up a dialog box asking the user if it's OK for it to infect other files. I wish human viruses would ask before infecting... |
