As KTF, Korea’s second largest mobile carrier, is likely to abandon Qualcomm's BREW which the company adopted for the first time in the world, the mobile internet platform is threatened to be withdrawn from the Korean market.

According to Electronic Times, the nation’s IT daily, KTF will increase the number of handsets based on WIPI platform developed in Korea from only 4 right now to 70% of new models starting from August and 100% from the year-end.

However, some other articles about WIPI have pointed out that it may be compatible or made to be so BREW applications can be leveraged, of which there are hundreds in Korea.

However, KTF is reportedly to keep updating BREW-based application and developing new contents for the sake of Brew phone users.
