User Testing: Why We Can't Do It

Posted at October 29, 2004 09:20 AM in Other .

This article talks about why real end user testing is needed and why we can't do it. We (us mobile engineers) do not make a very good target audience -- at least for most areas and demographics. This may not hold quite as well in some areas, such as parts of Asia. I do know from personal experience, though, that I prefer functionality and "geek" (or "cool" if you will) factor over perfectly easy user flows, look, and 100% bug free (that the carriers seem to want, even if it is a pipe dream for any sufficiently complex app).
