FCC Rules May Change to Expand Market for Apps

Posted at December 10, 2004 09:27 AM in Other .

The FCC may consider changing rules for commerical US flights to allow the use of cell phones. This means people could have even more hours of free time to sit around and use applications on their phones. Right now, most flight attendants won't allow a phone to be on even if it has it's radio turned off ("airplane mode").

Of course, application design will be important to allow full offline use when completely out of coverage, like on an airplane may be in some areas.

Now, experience close to me has shown that the coverage in planes is actually really, really good.
