First BREW 3.1 Handset Launched

Verizon has launched the LG VX9800, a sideways opening phone with a QWERTY keyboard and a QVGA screen. It also has BREW 3.1 on it.

The screen size in BREW is 320x239 with lots of RAM and storage to go along with that. No longer will there be the problems of the CDM-9900 where it didn't have enough RAM to decode a full screen image or enough storage to store many. The phone is fast with a shiny new MSM6550 chipset and an ARM9 processor.

With the keyboard, standard 4:3 aspect ratio screen, lots of RAM, and EVDO developers should be able to create some amazing applications for this phone. Hopefully the carriers will allow specialized applications on it.
