DevX brings us a great article on how Netbeans with the Netbeans Mobility Pack can help manage the device fragmentation problem. (And no, that isn't a problem cause by taking the sledge hammer to your phone in frustration!) Sure, Java runs everywhere. But that doesn't mean all screen resolutions and hardware capabilities are the same.

Not a pretty situation, but you have to at least acknowledge that Java and J2ME have offered hope to hopelessness. The JVM on millions of phones provides the basis for running a large portion—probably 80 percent in most situations—of an application without issue.
