This is an old article over at IBMs wireless site, however it applies even more today than it did then. With the increase in performance of mobile devices, implementing scripting within the application or game can help decrease the time it takes to make modifications or add new levels, or whatever may be needed.

This scripting doesn't have to be made available to users, either. Although, if it is, it can spawn community around the application or game which can be great for distribution and sales.
