C.E.O. Dennis Hettema:
- Business cards are so 2004…
OP3, the Swedish/Dutch company made it’s breakthrough on the seminar market in Europe, when Holland Innovation was held in Haag, the Netherlands. 1 600 visitors and 120 exhibitors were all equipped with ShotCodes . This was in deed an interactive fair!
- Bad news, 90 percent of all innovations never become products, said Wouter Pijzel, C.E.O. of the organisation “de Nederlandse Orde van Uitvinders”.
“But this doesn’t count for Dennis Hettema who has developed a new application for mobile phones”, wrote the Dutch daily paper Trouw.
All the visitors’ badges had a ShotCode printed on it. The barcodes were all linked to the wearers’ mail addresses. Usually we exchange business cards, but at Holland Innovation people scanned each others ShotCodes and got all the personal information sent directly to the mailbox.
- We had 1 200 scans during 8 hours, OP3’s founder and C.E.O. Dennis Hettema, says.
The exhibitors could not only scan interesting person’s ShotCodes, they were also able to indicate at the spot how “hot” the lead was. At the end of the day they received an email with all their “hot, warm and cold” leads.
- The fair and seminar industry is one of the markets we are exploring, Dennis Hettema explains.
The visitors that didn’t have a compatible mobile phone and didn’t choose to borrow one from OP3 got a foretaste of the new technique at one of the eight terminals at the fair. Web cameras were installed at the terminals and when the visitors scanned their ShotCodes, they immediately received information about their fair day’s agenda on the computer screen.
Also, if another visitor scanned his or hers ShotCode within 10 seconds of the other visitor, email addresses were exchanged and therefore making businesscards unnecessary.
Today OP3 has almost 60 compatible mobile phones and more platforms are being programmed every week.
The ShotCode application is for free and is only 17kB. It’s also very simple to create ShotCodes on www.shotcode.com and the user can decide which addresses to link to. OP3 also provides optimization of internet sites, to make them readable on the mobile phone’s tiny screens.
OP3 has representation in Holland and has its head office in Åmål, Sweden. Åmål was just the other day rewarded as the world’s second best city of its size.
- It’s a huge business advantage to work and live in an idyll as Åmål, says Dennis Hettema.
