What Will Your Apps Do With 2.5 Gbps of Bandwidth?

NTT DoCoMo, Inc. announced today that
it achieved 2.5Gbps packet transmission in the downlink while moving at
20km/h. The fourth-generation (4G) radio access field experiment took
place in Yokosuka, Kanagawa Prefecture on December 14, 2005.

The article discusses some more technical radio stuff.  Japan, of course, is where DSL is running 10x the typical US speeds and moving in to the hundreds of megabits per second.  It's no surprise they would have wireless connections much faster than US DSL.

But what will your phone apps do with all of that bandwidth?  You can already stream video, two ways.  This is fast enough to stream DV.  In fact, it's much faster than that.

I'm not saying there is no use for this bandwidth.  There will be plenty.  But what will it enable that is impractical now, even over high speed wired connections?
